Charter One Bank’s ‘Making Music Matter’ program to benefit Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center in September

Concert Series at Northerly Island venue to raise money for organization that helps abused children

CHICAGO       (August 31, 2006) - Music brings healing and comfort this month as Charter One Bank’s summer-long program “Making Music Matter” works to raise funds benefiting the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center in September.

With performances by Styx and Foreigner on September 8, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (with The Strokes) on September 14 and 15, and the Black Eyed Peas (with Rihanna) on September 23, Charter One is asking concert-goers to make donations to the CCAC at the Charter One Bank tent, located just inside the admission gates of the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island. Volunteers from Charter One Bank and the CCAC will be available in the tent to accept contributions. Charter One will match all donations raised during the month – up to a goal of $25,000.

Designed to build awareness and support for local community organizations, “Making Music Matter” recognizes and supports local not-for-profit organizations by collecting much-needed donations during select performances held at the Charter One Pavilion.

“The Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center is an ally to children most in-need of a trust worthy, caring friend. Through Charter One Bank’s ‘Making Music Matter’ program, we’re proud to support the CCAC’s programs and services that restore hope and peace to lives affected by abuse,” said Senior Vice President Christine Noel, director of corporate affairs at Charter One Bank. “With the generous donations of concert-goers at the Charter One Pavilion, this program truly will make music matter in the Chicagoland community.”

Aiming in September to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children, Charter One Bank’s partnership with the CCAC will help support investigations and follow up treatments for child victims of abuse. The CCAC provides services including forensic support, referrals, trauma-focused counseling, crisis intervention and case management to more than 3,000 Chicago children each year.

“We are grateful to Charter One Bank for supporting the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center in our work to provide help and healing to Chicago’s abused children,” said CCAC Executive Director Erin Sorenson. “Nearly 2,600 children are reported as sexually abused in Chicago every year. Through the support of organizations such as Charter One Bank, the CCAC is able to provide immediate intervention, timely responses, and continuous help for these children and their families.”

As an incentive to participate in the “Making Music Matter” program, Charter One will encourage concert-goers to enter drawings for iPod nanos at any of September’s featured concerts.
